Craniosacral Therapy and You, Westlake Village,Thousand Oaks, Agoura, Simi Valley, San Fernando Valley
by Kimberly Loiacono BA, CST, LMT
Thank you for your interest in Craniosacral Therapy. My name is Kimberly Loiacono and I have had a private practice in the Conejo Valley for 10 years and work with all bodies from infants as young as 2 weeks to seniors.
Many people are introduced to Craniosacral Therapy (CST) when nothing else has worked and they are researching therapies to relieve their problem. Clients receive CST for many reasons:
Migraines; headaches; neck and back pain; TMJ dysfunction; digestive disorders; stress-related problems such as anxiety; depression; high blood pressure; PTSD-Post Traumatic Stress Disorder; post-surgical rehabilitation and more.
It is a wonderful therapy for colic, chronic ear infections, and asthma with children.
CST is a powerful modality that has changed many lives and is based on the belief that the body can heal itself given the chance. By treating the body as a whole and recognizing that the form and functions of our structures are related to our well- being, CranioSacral Therapists are able to assist the body in reconnecting to it's innate wisdom and increase movement, communication, and health.
Some of the many benefits of CranioSacral Therapy include reducing stress, inflammation, and pain while increasing energy levels, range of motion, immune repsonse, vitality and sense of well-being.
CST complements traditional medical models as well as chiropractic, acupuncture, and psychotherapy.
As an advanced craniosacral therapist I have worked and studied with Dr. John Upledger and have had the good fortune to study with other modality developers such as Jean-Pierre Barral with Visceral Manipulation and Bruno Chikly with Lymph Drainage. Both complement CST and assist in my clients healing.
I am also a presenter, certified teaching assistant and study group leader for the Upledger Institute. My approach to CranioSacral Therapy is to create a safe space for change. The body knows how to release the restrictions that have been causing pain and dysfunction.
My role is of a facilitator, empowering the client, allowing them to reclaim their innate ablilty to heal.
As the body reduces restrictions that make it work so hard, less energy is needed to "try" to keep the body balanced. When these compensatory mechanisms are released, the body has more energy and ability to function."
