Craniosacral Therapy at The Lighthouse, Killorglin, County Kerry

The Lighthouse Natural Therapies, run by Carol Anne Midwinter, opened in Killorglin in June – and what a great success it is proving to be! Offering Cranio Sacral Therapy, Reiki Teaching. Reiki Healing and Baby Massage, The Lighthouse has welcomed many new faces into its healing space.


Carol Anne started her professional career as a Physiotherapist. Qualifying in 1990 from Trinity College, Dublin, she took her skills to England where she held a wide variety of physio posts, specialising in care of the elderly and stroke patients.


Always interested in alternative therapies, Carol Anne studied Reiki and found that by applying Reiki to patients in pain it eased their symptoms more than physio alone could do. She became a Reiki Master in 2001, which enabled her to teach Reiki to others.


Also in 2001 she gained a diploma in Cranio Sacral Therapy at the College of Cranio Sacral Therapy in London. While studying, she realised that Cranio Sacral Therapy reaches the parts other therapies don’t reach! For babies, CST is like a magic wand – colic is one of the ailments that CST can treat best. So with the sound medical knowledge that comes with being a physiotherapist, Carol Anne integrates physio in with CST and Reiki.


Carol Anne will be holding Baby Massage groups. This is one of the loveliest ways for mothers and fathers to bond with their babies. The babies love it and so do the parents. Apart from the group dynamic of this, the parent can take this skill home and massage their baby whenever the need arises – giving the baby and the parent an experience well worth having.
