Craniosacral Therapy at The Natural Healing Centre, Limerick

(Limerick)
Hello. My name is Michael Galvin and I'm a registered Craniosacral Therapist with the Craniosacral Therapy Association of the United Kingdom (RCST) with a clinic at the Natural Healing Centre just outside Limerick city.
I trained at the College of Craniosacral Therapy in London and graduated in 2006 and since then I have found myself being drawn into increasingly more subtle and deeper levels of healing.
In my experience, healing takes place when we no longer fixate on trying to cure or heal anything. When we trust the infinite wisdom of the body, the inherent health within can emerge and dissipate the build-up of entropy that causes dysfunction and illness. As therapists, we simply hold a space within which a re-organisation and restoration of health can take place.
What is Craniosacral Therapy?
It is an extremely gentle "hands-on" therapy which actively assists the body’s natural capacity for self-repair. Using no manipulation, the therapist "listens" via the hands to what is going on in your body and in this way identifies and helps to relieve pain or restrictions held there. For treatment, you will usually lie on a treatment table. As the therapist makes light contact, you may feel a deep sense of relaxation and become aware of heat, tingling, pulsations or other sensations.
How does Craniosacral Therapy work?
Physical knocks or emotional stress cause the body’s tissues to contract. If the shock is severe or is accompanied by strong emotions, the tissues may stay contracted. This contraction will manifest as a restriction of the natural motion of the tissues and fluids within the body.
A trained therapist can perceive this subtle motion in the body and can use it to identify restriction or congestion. Then, using the hands, the therapist amplifies and reflects back to the body the pattern it is holding, thus providing an opportunity for the body to let go of the resistance that is maintaining the pattern, and return to a more balanced and relaxed mode of functioning. For example, it is often only when we look in the mirror that we become conscious that we are frowning and we can then choose to relax our frown.
As the body becomes conscious of its blockages and begins to release them, the energy used to hold these blockages in place is also freed. So, one of the benefits of the therapy is an increase in one’s energy levels.
Who is Craniosacral Therapy suitable for?
It is suitable for people of all ages, from babies to the elderly. As it involves no manipulation, it is often appropriate when other therapies may be unsafe, such as in acutely painful conditions, during pregnancy, after an operation, accident, fall or injury and for young babies.
Craniosacral Therapy Treatment for babies
Babies tend to respond extremely well to treatment, and often more quickly than adults. Many problems associated with babies and infants such as colic, sucking problems, breathing difficulties, restlessness and irritability may result from restrictions that arise during the birth process. Craniosacral treatment of babies and infants may help to relieve such problems.
What can Craniosacral Therapy treat?
The following are just some of the conditions that may respond favourably to treatment.
Arthritis, Asthma, Autism, Back pain, Birth trauma, Bone/joint disorder, Breathing disorders, Bronchitis, Chronic fatigue, Colic, Digestive problems, Drug withdrawal, Dyslexia, Frozen shoulder, Headaches and migraines, Hormonal imbalances, Hyperactivity, Impotence, Infertility, Insomnia, ME, Menstrual pains, Muscular aches and pains, Nervous disorders, Post dental trauma, Rheumatism, Sciatica, Sinusitis, Spinal curvatures, Stress-related conditions, Stroke, TMJ/jaw problems, Trigeminal neuralgia, Visual disturbances.
