Sciatica: Dealing with Discomfort During Pregnancy.

re you suffering from Sciatica during pregnancy?

Joanne's Story.
Joanne came to me about 6 months into her pregnancy. It was her second pregnancy and she was suffering from a number of symptoms such as Sciatica and a general discomfort in her legs. She had similar symptoms during her first pregnancy and preferred not to endure the same again this time.

She was a nurse and had a very positive regard for more formal medical interventions - she had already seen both a Physiotherapist and Osteopath. Their treatments offered some relief to her condition, but intervention became more difficult as her term went on.

This is very typical with the majority of clients I see - they have already explored the more formal medical channels and now wish to complement this approach with CranioSacral Therapy.

She heard of CranioSacral Therapy and knew it to be a gentle treatment but was unsure as to whether it would be of help to her.

After the First Treatment.
She came for two treatments in a two-week timeframe. After the first treatment she felt consistent relief from pain for a full two weeks. This was the first time she felt such relief in 2 months.

After the Second Treatment.
After the second treatment she completed the remainder of her pregnancy without the previous discomfort in her legs. In fact, I was delighted to see Joanne return with her infant just 3 weeks after the birth - and have an opportunity to give Mum and Baby a gentle and effective treatment.

Joanne's case is an individual one and of course, relief of symptoms may vary from person to person. However, I have found CranioSacral Therapy to be a very gentle and effective treatment for conditions such as Sciatica - in this case in the context of Pregnancy.
